AutomationSurgeon Website Redesign Plan

Version: 1.0
Purpose: Complete build plan for the redesigned automationsurgeon.com — problem-based navigation, circular content loop, free audit entry model, rev.io-inspired repeating card design.

1. Architecture Decisions (Locked)

Decision Choice Rationale
Navigation structure Problem-based Visitors search for problems, not tiers. "Email going to spam" beats "Tier 1."
Entry point Free audit with credit model Zero cost if no issues found; audit credit applies toward project if they move forward
Social proof Anonymous case studies No client permission needed; focus on metrics and outcomes
Video testimonials Not yet Add later
Visual design Rev.io repeating card pattern Consistent card layout with: Problem → Outcome → Proof → CTA
Blog strategy 3 posts per problem area (9 total) Drive search traffic to service pages, not the other way around

2. The Free Audit Model

This is the main entry point for the entire site. Every CTA leads here.

How It Works

Scenario Result
Audit finds no issues 100% free — "nothing to fix, no charge"
Audit finds issues, client moves forward Audit cost credited toward the project invoice
Audit finds issues, client doesn't move forward Client pays standard audit rate

Why This Works

  • Removes the "why am I paying just to see if I have a problem?" objection
  • Creates urgency: "You're probably leaving money on the table — let's check for free"
  • Qualifies leads automatically (people who book audits are ready to buy)

On-Site Language (Use Consistently)

"Book a free audit. If we don't find anything worth fixing, it costs you nothing. If we do, the audit fee credits toward your project."

Audit Types by Problem Area

Problem Area Audit Name Standard Rate Time Required
Email Email Deliverability Assessment $350–$750 1–2 hours
Infrastructure M365 Zero Trust Health Check $750–$1,500 5–8 hours
Infrastructure Azure FinOps Cost Audit $750–$1,500 5–8 hours

Note: The email audit is the lowest-friction entry point and should be promoted most aggressively.

Total pages to build: 6 service overview/area pages + 12 service detail pages + 1 homepage + 1 case studies + 1 about + 9 blog posts + 1 contact = ~31 pages

4. Circular Content Loop

How every page connects to every other page — no dead ends.

[SEARCH] → Blog Post
↓ (body link: "Want us to fix this for you?")
         Service Detail Page (Tier 1/2/3)
↓ (body section: "See how this worked for a real company")
         Case Study Card
↓ (footer CTA: "Start with a free audit")
         Audit Booking Page
↓ (confirmation email: "While you wait, read...")
         Back to Blog

Rule: Every page must have: 1. At least one link to a service page 2. At least one case study reference 3. One CTA button pointing to the audit booking page

5. Homepage Design

Layout (Top to Bottom)

HERO:

Headline: "Secure. Modernize. Automate."
Subhead: "Your Microsoft 365 environment — locked down, brought up to date,
and running on autopilot. From a $1,050 email fix to a $17,500
              compliance migration."
CTA: [Book a Free Audit] [See What We Fix →]

Note: The master strategy calls for a "supercut video" as the hero visual — short 30–60 second highlights reel of real project work. Flag as a Phase 2 website asset, not blocking launch.

TRUST BAR (under hero):

Microsoft Partner | 8x Certified | 40+ Projects | 100% Job Success Score

HOW THE AUDIT WORKS (3-step visual):

Step 1: Book a 30-min audit (free)
Step 2: We diagnose the problem and tell you exactly what's wrong
Step 3: If we find something worth fixing → we quote it and credit the audit toward the project
If we don't → it cost you nothing

ANONYMOUS CASE STUDY STRIP (3 cards):

[Email] Professional services firm — Bounce rate 8% → 0.4%. Recovered $3K/month in lost invoices.
[Automation] E-commerce company — Invoice processing time 4 hours/day → 15 minutes.
[Infrastructure] Legal firm — Azure bill reduced 34%. GCC High compliance achieved in 7 weeks.

WHY US (3 trust signals):

✓ Microsoft Partner (ID: 7036966) — official, verifiable
✓ 31 projects, 100% success rate on Upwork — track record
✓ You talk to the engineer who builds it — no account managers

BOTTOM CTA:

"Not sure which service you need? Start with a free audit. We'll tell you."
[Book Free Audit →]

6. Problem Area Overview Pages

Each of the three top-level pages (/email, /automation, /infrastructure) follows the same layout.

Example: /email

HEADLINE:
"Your email problems. Diagnosed and fixed."

SUB:
"Whether emails are going to spam, you're moving to Microsoft 365,
or you need an AI to handle the inbox — start here."

Color / Visual Hierarchy (Follow Rev.io)

  • Consistent card border radius, consistent padding
  • Icon per problem area (email, automation, infrastructure — pick 3 icons and stick with them)
  • CTA buttons: same color, same size, always visible without scrolling
  • Case study and testimonial blocks use a distinct background color (not white — light gray or accent)
  • Trust signals (Microsoft Partner, certifications, Upwork stats) always visible in footer

CTA Buttons (Use Exactly These Labels)

Context CTA Label
Email services "Book Free Email Audit"
Infrastructure services "Book Free M365/Azure Audit"
Automation services "Book Free Consultation"
General / homepage "Book a Free Audit"
Navigation/header "Get Started"

13. Build Order

Build in this sequence — each phase is shippable on its own.

Phase 1: Core Email Pages (Ship First)

  1. Homepage (simplified — hero + 3 cards + trust bar + CTA)
  2. /email — problem area overview
  3. /email/deliverability-fix — Tier 1 service page
  4. /email/migration — Tier 2 service page
  5. /contact or /audit — booking page

Why first: Email deliverability is your easiest conversation. Highest search volume for someone at the bottom of the funnel. Fastest to explain. Gets the site live.

Phase 2: Automation Pages

  1. /automation — problem area overview
  2. /automation/ai-email-triage
  3. /automation/ai-workflow-agent
  4. /automation/employee-onboarding

Phase 3: Infrastructure Pages

  1. /infrastructure — problem area overview
  2. /infrastructure/m365-security
  3. /infrastructure/sharepoint-teams
  4. /infrastructure/intune
  5. /infrastructure/azure-landing-zone
  6. /infrastructure/gcc-high
  7. /infrastructure/azure-dashboards

Phase 4: Proof Layer

  1. /case-studies — page + first 3 case study cards
  2. /about

Phase 5: Blog (Traffic Engine)

  1. 3 email blog posts
  2. 3 automation blog posts
  3. 3 infrastructure blog posts

Blog is Phase 5 because the service pages need to exist for blog posts to link to. Traffic from blog posts is long-term (3–6 months for SEO). Get the conversion pages live first.

14. Content Gaps (What Needs to Be Written)

Item Status Action
Case studies (5 minimum) Need to write from Upwork history + SOPs Draft from SOP-34 Upwork section — keep anon
Service page copy for all 12 services Not written yet Use this document as brief, write per template
9 blog posts Not written yet Write in Phase 5, keyword-targeted
Audit booking page copy Not written Write the free audit guarantee language
About page Exists in index.md as summary Expand with Upwork credentials and personal positioning
Homepage hero copy Exists in index.md Refine for conversion (shorter, more specific)

15. SEO Notes

  • All service pages should have: title tag <60 chars, meta description <160 chars, H1 = page headline, H2s = major sections
  • Blog posts should be 800–1,500 words (enough depth to rank, not padded)
  • Internal linking rule: every blog post links to at least one service page; every service page links to at least one case study and one blog post
  • Google Search Console: set up tracking from day one (SOP-31)
  • Local SEO: GBP (Google Business Profile) stays active per SOP-47 — posts link to new service pages
